College of Vedic Studies
The training and education wing of Bhaktivedanta Manor has been providing life-changing experiences since 1995. It provides quality education and training based on the material and spiritual aspects of Vedic teachings. Congregational Education offers courses such as ‘Vaisnava Culture’, ‘Theology and Philosophy’, and ‘Devotional Practice’.
These non-residential courses allow congregational members to develop their understanding in important aspects of Krishna consciousness. Certification Courses are accredited by the National Open College Network (NOCN). Credits are awarded for completion of certain courses such as the Bhakti Sastri course.
The Outreach Programme is one of the most active branches of the College. All levels of experience are catered for - from absolute beginners to advanced students. Participants learn skills that they can apply immediately.
Under the label of Veda Lifestyle, short seminars and day-long courses bring subjects such as Bhagavad Gita, ayurveda, hatha yoga and cooking to life. The workshops promote practical knowledge and skills that have their roots in ancient India. The growing list of courses currently includes Vastu, Nadi Yoga, Vedic Astrology, Pranayam, and Indian Head Massage. Weekend retreats are regularly organised; students have the opportunity to experience mantra meditation and various aspects of bhakti-yoga.
Monthly open days are popular with members of the public, especially those from neighbouring villages. This family day out includes tours of the Manor building and grounds, workshops on mantra meditation, ayurveda and vegetarian cooking, oxcart rides and a vegetarian lunch.
